The first things the kids wanted to do was go swimming. It was only 50 degrees so swimming outside was out. However, Aaron and Clint dared each other to dive into ice water - so of course they did. (instant brain freeze for both of them) . . Thankfully there was a nice indoor pool to play in. The kids had a blast and spent most of the afternoon there.
New Year's Eve we all stayed in and made dinner. We played games and watched Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest ring in the new year. Kisses all around! I love the feeling of a new year.
The next day we went bowling - Ashton's favorite! We played at a bowling alley that celebrated New Year with their own tradition. There were colored pins mixed in with the white pins. If the headpin was a color, you had to alert the front desk, and if you got a strike then you got free stuff. We won lots and lots of free drinks and two free games of bowling. It made it so much more fun. There was an elderly couple playing on the lane next to us and they got just as into it as we did. Totally silly, but fun.
The kids spent time at the park while the ladies went shopping. The shopping in St. George is pretty sad. We didn't find ANYTHING cute.
New Year's day we ate at Don Pedro's. It's a tradition to eat there any time we go to St. George. Why do we not have a Nielsen's Frozen Custard in the Salt Lake Valley? I wish I knew what their secret is to making such a YUMMY frozen treat! Chocolate with almonds . . . mmmm - I want one right now!
The guys went mountain biking. Ashton even got to go mountain biking with his dad! He felt so cool. The only thing we didn't do was go golfing. It just wasn't quite warm enough. Oh well, next time!
