Ashton and I ate lunch with some friends the other day and were getting ready to leave when he abruptly stopped in front of a table with two women eating their lunch.
Ashton: "Mom! Come look at this lady!"
Me: I pretend Ashton is NOT my child and look the other way.
Ashton: "Mooom?! Come look at this little lady!"
Me: Noticing the two women are clearly annoyed, I go to physically remove Ashton from their table. When I bend down to grab his hand I see what has grabbed his attention . . . one of the women is a "little person". (Was that politically correct?)
If any of you have advice on how to teach children not to verbally point out differences loudly in public, I'm all ears!
