For two weeks during the month of June I relived my mom's entire life. She wrote her personal history and I had the priviledge of organizing it into a book through Heritage Makers. It was quite the project and I gave myself a deadline to have it finished for her 75th Birthday at the end of June.
After working on it late into the night and editing and editing and editing some more, I did it! There was nothing better than when I presented the book to my mom and she loved it!
I learned so much about her! But more than anything the underlying theme of her life has been obedience. She lives the gospel with all of her heart and knows that if she does this she will be blessed. And she has been blessed. We did a page of the trials she has experienced in here life and she could think of three events that didn't even take up one page. How would that be?! She is an extremely grateful person for the life she has lived on this earth. Her family is everything to her and she writes down EVERYTHING that her children and grandchildren are doing in their lives. She rewards her grandchildren with a two dollar bill when they accomplish something that she thinks is neat.
We threw a party for her for her 75th Birthday. We did a trivia quiz about her life and fun facts about her, we did a fashion show where her daughters and grand daughters dressed up in her old prom dresses, wedding dresses, suits, etc. My dad did a tribute to her, her grandchildren made her a book of certificates of things they would like her to teach them or things they would like to do with her, her children gave her a statue of the Salt Lake Temple and a date that we would all go do a session together with her, and my neices and nephews wrote a version of "What A Wonderful World" by Luis Armstrong that they played on their voilins for her that brought all of us to tears! That night her children took her to Carvers for dinner and she gave each child her book. It was such a great day for such a great mother!
